An immersive workshop for the mama who wants to understand what lies beneath her anger, how to tune into its messages, and learn how to express it in adaptive and healthy ways.

If you feel angry whilst mothering, you are not alone.

Anger is a part of the human experience, and can intensify when during times of stress, so it's no wonder so many mothers experience anger regularly.

I want you to know that there is nothing wrong with experiencing anger and in fact it provides important information about areas in our life that we need to attend to.

However, problems arise when we don't have healthy ways to express and process anger in our bodies. When this happens we can find ourselves saying and doing things that feel deeply misaligned with how we intend to mother.

Anger is undoubtably the number 1 area of concern for the mothers I work with and it consistently comes up in conversation with my community of mothers on social media, so I decided to put together this comprehensive workshop for understanding and managing anger in motherhood.

Over 3.5hrs of content we will cover:

- The difference between anger and rage.

- When to seek professional help.

- What lies beneath anger. 

- Understanding your basic and complex human needs.

- How thoughts lead to and perpetuate anger.

- How our history influences (or triggers) our experience of anger.

- The role of the nervous system in anger.

- Tools for rewiring the nervous system and keeping it flexible for daily life as a mother.

- Somatic techniques for processing/discharging anger in the body.

- Tools for managing anger in the moment.

- A brief chat on imagery and breath work

- The concept of rupture and repair

- Key parts of the repair process.

Included in this workshop is:

  • A 3.5hr video sectioned into two parts which includes an educational and experiential component.

  • Access to an anger toolkit that includes pre-recorded audio files that provide you with strategies and tools to get started even before you watch the whole workshop, in regulating both out of the moment and in the moment of anger.

  • A pdf download that provides an overview of the content and prompts for you to plan how you will integrate your learning in order to achieve change in how you relate to and express anger.

I’m Yara Heary, and I help mothers go from surviving to thriving on their terms.

I am a registered psychologist, a wife, mother of two, and singer – in which ever order works best on any given day!  Life After Birth Psychology began following the birth of my first son which threw me into another journey of self-rediscovery. Along this journey I learnt to reconnect with the innate wisdom of my body, to become better attuned to the needs of my inner child, to disentangle from the influences of the outside world, and to ultimately create a vision of motherhood that was mine. 

My belief is that we all have the answers we need within ourselves. My role is to support you in tuning into or returning to your true inner voice. 

Over my years as a therapist, I have cultivated my gift of holding space for women to honestly explore themselves and I am now bringing this healing to more women in an online capacity through workshops like this one.

What is the cost?

The anger workshop includes 3.5hrs of content, experiential practice, guided recordings, and a pdf workbook and is $149 AUD (AMAZING value just quietly..)

Is this workshop like psychological therapy?

Although my knowledge base is rooted in psychological concepts and interventions, I am delivering this workshop in an educational capacity where I'll be providing education and skills training. This workshop does not constitute a therapeutic relationship. Because of the nature of group work, individual circumstances are not taken into consideration in the creation of, or provision of this workshop. The advice given is for educational purposes only.

If you are in crisis or are experiencing acute mental health distress which is impacting your ability to meet your everyday responsibilities, I encourage you to engage with a mental health practitioner in addition to this group. This workshop is not a substitute for clinical psychological intervention for acute mental health disturbances but would be highly complementary to individual therapy.
